Street imagery notice
Where our vehicle has been recording, what it records, and how to have yourself taken out of it.

What the vehicle records
An AKYS survey vehicle carries roof-mounted cameras and LiDAR. Driving public roads, it records 360° imagery, forward and rear video, stereo imagery and a LiDAR point cloud, each frame tagged with position and time. It records what is visible from the public road.
It does not record audio. It does not run facial recognition. It is not connected to any enforcement system, and we are not working for the police. We are producing road condition surveys, asset inventories and 3D models of infrastructure.
Faces and plates are blurred before anything leaves us
Every frame passes through our anonymisation pipeline before it is published, delivered to a client or listed for sale. A face model and two independent plate models find the regions, and those pixels are destroyed with Gaussian blur and mosaic — not covered with a box that could be lifted.
Automated detection misses things. If you find a face or a plate that got through, tell us and we will fix that frame and look at why it was missed.
We are also clear about a limit: blurring removes faces and plates. It does not remove the fact that a particular car was parked outside a particular house on a particular day. If something in our imagery identifies you by context rather than by your face, that is still a good reason to write to us, and we will treat it as one.

Your rights
We record under legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, which means you have a particularly strong right: you can object, under Article 21, and you do not have to justify it. You can also ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be erased.
How we handle a removal request:
- You write to [email protected].
- We find the material. We may ask for more detail about where and when, only as much as we need to locate it.
- We blur or delete it, in the published copy and in our archive.
- We tell you what we did.
We keep a record of the request and the action for three years, so that we can show it was handled. That record contains as little about you as possible.

Private land
We record from public roads. If we have been engaged to survey private land, that is done with the landowner's agreement, and anyone on site is told. If you believe we have recorded on private land without permission, write to [email protected] and we will look into it.
